Frequently asked questionsWhat do you offer?
Here’s the way I approach each wedding ceremony:
What is the cost?
I generally charge one flat fee for all the above, this includes a $150 non refundable deposit. Please call or email me anytime for a quote.
Included in my cost I will travel up to 50kms (from Melbourne CBD) on the day of the ceremony. Additional travel may attract a surcharge, however this will be discussed during our obligation free meeting so there will be no hidden or surprise expenditures to upset your budget.
Upon agreement of my services you will receive a ‘Client Agreement’ form to sign which states my full terms of agreement.
What are the legal requirements when we get married?
Notice of Intended Marriage
To be married in Australia you must be at least 18 years of age. You are required to lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) with your celebrant at least one calendar month and one day prior to the wedding. This can be lodged up to 18 months in advance of the wedding.
Documentation
A declaration must be signed prior to the wedding which states the bride and groom are 18 years or more, not married to anyone else and there is no legal reason why they should not be married.
During the ceremony there are 3 documents the bride, groom, two witnesses (they must be at least 18 years of age) and the celebrant must sign.
Ceremony
During the ceremony the celebrant must introduce themselves, the Monitum must be said before the exchange of vows and the bride and groom must say their full names and ‘call upon the persons here present to witness.....’
What about the Ceremony?
I will give you a document called ‘Creating your own ceremony’. This will give you some ideas to help create your own personalised ceremony.
This documentation offers the inclusion of readings, rituals and giving away of the bride. You might like to use these to include loved ones in the ceremony. I have many examples of each but ultimately the choice to include none, one or all of these is completely up to you.
You will get unlimited emails and phone calls to ensure your ceremony is exactly what you want. A rehearsal is also recommended a week or so before your wedding date to help with the choreography and help settle any nerves.
I would recommend you keep the ceremony wording to yourselves so your wedding guests can experience for the first time your wonderful heartfelt words and celebrate with you on your special day.
Do you conduct other ceremonies?
Yes I also do Namings, Commitments, Renewal of Vows and other Special Occasions.
